Thanks for stopping by! It's so lovely to have you here, but let me tell you - it's not easy to write a paragraph about myself. I wouldn't want you to fall asleep!
Hi, I'm Justyna, I' m Polish (yes, I know, you thought I was from India) and I've lived in Brighton, UK for over six years now. My favourite forms of escapism are food and travel, so this blog will be primarily about my plant-based food experiments and vegan travel endeavours.
I'm just yet another quirky vegan foodie who likes taking photos of food.
What made me go vegan? Oh it's a long story... I never liked meat, and I was already experimenting with vegetarianism in middle school. At the same time, I was struggling with quite a severe eating disorder all my life. Looking back, I am grateful I hit my lowest low quite early in my life. I can see now that my rock bottom became a springboard to a permanent lifestyle change. That was seven years ago. Time flies.
First, I jumped into raw veganism (after binge-watching The life regenerator on Youtube - he literally saved my life!) and was experimenting with it for about two years. It definitely helped me reset and cleanse my body. If you scroll down on my Instagram, you'll find a lot of crazy raw vegan fruit hauls in my feed.
Slowly my diet became more relaxed, and now I'm using a more flexible approach, enjoying vegan junk food every now and then. Yes, I used to be this annoying no-oil police, but now you'll find that I do use a bit of oil in my recipes. It's totally up to you if you want to add oil or not. You can always sauté your veggies in a bit of water instead. But what I've observed is that your hardcore carnivore friend will be easier to convert if you add a bit of oil to that curry 😉 If you're cooking just for yourself and your longterm vegan mates I would probably go for 'as healthy as possible' option.
So a year after going vegan I finally got my first iPhone and I immediately downloaded Instagram. I always was a bit into photography. I remember running a few photoblogs back in the day. The idea of having a photo dairy and being able to post directly from your phone seemed really awesome 6 years ago (yes I know, nowadays we don't get impressed that easily). I wasn't super active there at first but very quickly my feed was dominated by my crazy fruit hauls and experimental dinners and somehow my account crystalized into a vegan food blog over the years. I was slowly trying to improve the quality of my photos and who would have thought, I accidentally discovered a growing passion for food photography, and now I'm trying to make a living from it. Not bad for a person who never even knew what to do with her life!
After 6 years of being "a blogger without a blog" I finally managed to put everything together for you. I've been feeling like I am drowning in the cruel abyss of Instagram's unfair algorithm for a while now. So it's time to roll up your sleeves and settle somewhere else. I'm sure many Instagrammers can relate to this so much right now.
So I' me very excited for this new chapter, let's see where all this will take me. Thank you so much for following my strange roller coaster life. And those who were following my Instagram from the beginning, thank you so much for sticking around! Couldn't do it without you.
I hope you'll find this blog helpful and inspirational in a way! Maybe that one photo will make you book a flight to Bali or something 😉
Thank you for your support friends!
